Classification of visible minority

Usage

Visible minority of person has been developed and derived mainly to support the implementation of the Employment Equity Act.

When disseminating data on visible minority of person, if the full classification of the visible minority variable cannot be used due to small numbers in particular categories, either just the higher level categories of the classification can be disseminated, or the full classification of the visible minority variable can be modified by collapsing those categories that are too small to report separately into a residual category, 'Other visible minority groups'. In the latter case, all remaining categories should be derived in the manner in which they are listed in the classification, with no other collapsing, in order for data to be comparable to other sources.
