This variant was constructed by Statistics Canada's System of National Accounts (SNA) as an energy related industries aggregate for provincial and national gross domestic product (GDP) estimates. The energy sector is defined as comprising a grouping of industries involved in the extraction, production, distribution and transportation of energy in various forms.
