This instructional program class comprises any fellowship training program that prepares physicians to treat decompression illness and diving accident cases. These programs include instruction in using hyperbaric oxygen therapy treatment for conditions such as carbon monoxide poisoning, gas gangrene, non-healing wounds, tissue damage from radiation and burns, and bone infections; serving as consultant in all aspects of hyperbaric chamber operations; and assessing risks and apply appropriate standards to prevent disease and disability in divers and other persons working in altered atmospheric conditions. Requires prior completion of a residency program in emergency medicine or preventive medicine.
