Status: This standard was approved as a departmental standard on September 14, 2022.
Statistics Canada works closely with Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) and Crown Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada (CIRNAC), formerly Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada (INAC), to identify the reserves and the settlements to be included as census subdivisions. Furthermore, the inclusion of a census subdivision of the type 'Indian settlement' is dependent upon the agreement of the provincial or territorial authorities.
