Classification of programs and credentials

1 - Basic education and skills program (postsecondary institutions)

This category includes non-postsecondary programs that are offered in postsecondary institutions.

1.1 - General Equivalency Diploma/high school diploma

This category includes non-postsecondary credentials awarded as high school/secondary school diplomas or the equivalent.

1.2 - Basic education and skills short credential

This category includes short credentials for non-postsecondary programs that are offered in postsecondary institutions. These are formal qualifications granted upon successful completion of programs that are shorter than programs where a certificate or diploma is the formal qualification awarded.

1.3 - Basic education and skills certificate

This category includes certificates for non-postsecondary programs that are offered in postsecondary institutions.

1.4 - Basic education and skills diploma

This category includes diplomas for non-postsecondary programs that are offered in postsecondary institutions.

1.5 - Other basic education and skills credential

This category includes other recognized credentials for non-postsecondary programs that are offered in postsecondary institutions. It excludes basic education and skills short credentials, certificates and diplomas, as well as General Equivalency Diplomas and high school/secondary school diplomas.
