The purpose of the Survey on Sexual Misconduct at Work (SSMW) is to obtain an accurate picture of the nature, extent, and impact of: inappropriate sexual behaviours; discriminatory behaviours based on sex, sexual orientation, and gender identity; and sexual victimization within Canadian work-related settings.

Description
The SSMW is a survey of people 15 years and older, who have been in the workforce, and who live in the 10 provinces of Canada. The topics covered in the survey include: jobs held in the past 12 months, inappropriate sexual behaviours and victimization experienced in work-related settings; the characteristics, impact and reporting of such experiences; and perceptions of workplace culture.
Data from the SSMW will help Canadian governments and workplaces to inform workplace codes of conduct, as well as other policies, laws and programs designed to prevent and respond to sexual misconduct in the workplace. Data from the survey will compliment recorded crime rates. The SSMW will help Canadian governments and employers address two pillars: prevention and legal and justice system response.
