Data are collected directly from survey respondents.
The survey is designed to use rotates-out from the Labour Force Survey. Contact is made by telephone and questions are asked about the household and vehicles owned or leased by the household. Upon completion of the screening questions one vehicle is randomly selected and further questions are asked and a fuel purchase diary is sent to the household for the selected vehicle. This diary is to be kept for a one month period.
