The main purpose of the survey was to chart the progress (or decline) of the hardboard industry.

Data release - -

The survey covered the manufacturers of hardboard in Canada. There were only three such manufacturers and all are included. The study collected, on a monthly basis, production and shipment information of all types of hardboard manufactured. The main purpose of the survey was to chart the progress (or decline) of the hardboard industry. The results of the study were used extensively by the three manufacturers and it was also invaluable in improving the quality and details of information collected in the Annual Survey of Manufactures.

In 1982, this survey was dicontinued. Data have since been collected by the Particleboard, Oriented Strandboard and Fibreboard Survey (number 2141).
