The purpose of this survey is to collect detailed information from non-federally regulated lenders on residential mortgages.
Data release - November 10, 2017
In recent years the number of non- federally regulated lenders and their share of issued mortgages, has grown. The survey will collect information on the non-federally regulated portion of residential mortgage market. The data will be used by the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation to better assess the risk in the Canadian housing market.
Data sources and methodology
Statistics Canada consulted extensively with the client to develop a pilot survey for non-federally regulated lenders.
This survey is a census.
The Business Register is used to create the survey frame.
Target size 102 units
Desired response rate 50%
Data collection for this reference period: August 18, 2017 to September 29, 2017
Responding to this survey is mandatory.
Data are collected directly from survey respondents.
The collection method is a paper questionnaire.
The questionnaire is available in English and French.
