In 2008, the questionnaire was streamlined after consultation and testing in order to minimize response burden and improve data quality.

Reference period of change - 2004

This survey was done on an occasional basis between 1998 and 2003. As of 2004 reference period, it is conducted on an annual basis.

Reference period of change - 2003

Instrument design - The 2003 questionnaire was redesigned by a working group consisting of the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada (AUCC), the Association of University Technology Managers (AUTM), Industry Canada and Statistics Canada.
