Farm Input Price Index (FIPI)
Summary of changes
Activity on this program started: 1961
The Farm Input Price Index has been redeveloped as a quarterly indicator of the change in the price of farm inputs faced by Canadian farmers. The data sources for the index are administrative data and data from various programs within Statistics Canada.
2007 is the last reference year for which annual data were published.
The index has been reweighted and rebased; 1992 is now its base year. In addition, the index has been converted from a quarterly index to an annual index, and regional breakdowns are now available for eastern Canada, western Canada and all Canada. The last quarter for which data were published is the first quarter of 1999.
