Reference period of change - July 2021

The July occasion will be replaced by model-based data. The on-farm stocks of principal field crops on July 31st are being collected with the June Field Crop Survey between May 14th and June 11th.

Reference period of change - March 2018

As of March 2018, the questionnaire is offered in electronic format for use on Statistics Canada website. The survey can now be self-completed by respondents as well as on the phone with an interviewer. The survey name has changed to Field Crop Survey.

Reference period of change - November 2017

As of fall of 2017, and between mid-September to following early December of each year, the most current reference year's data in Table 32-10-0359-01 (formerly CANSIM 001-0017) is updated with model-based principal field crop estimates obtained from satellite imagery. The September survey has been replaced with the model-based data.

Reference period of change - December 2015

Effective January 2016, the national estimates displayed on CANSIM or in The Daily for the July and March Farm surveys on crops will not include data for the provinces of Newfoundland and Labrador, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and British Columbia. Crop production in these provinces account for 2% to 4% of the national total and is excluded. The data for these provinces will be available twice a year in the June Farm survey on seeded area estimates and in the November Farm survey on final crop production estimates.
