Reference period of change - 2018

Target population - The IMDB includes all immigrants admitted to Canada since 1952, all non-permanent resident permits since 1980 and tax files since 1982 for linked immigrants.

Data sources - Addition of data on the express entry selection criteria, immigrant children with parental incomes, and wages derived from the T4.

Reference period of change - 2016

Target population - The IMDB includes, all immigrants admitted to Canada since 1980, all non-permanent resident permits since 1980 and tax files since 1982 for linked immigrants.

Data sources - Addition of Citizenship data since 2005, mortality data from the Canadian Mortality Database (CMDB).

Reference period of change - 2014

Non-permanent residents who do not become permanent residents are excluded.

Reference period of change - 2013

Target population - Starting with this release, a person is included in the database only if he or she obtained permanent resident status or a non-permanent resident permit since 1980 and filed at least one tax return since 1982. Non-permanent residents who only held visitor's permits are excluded.

Data Sources - Starting with this release, the data sources are the Immigrant Landing File (ILF), the Non-Permanent Resident File (NRF), the T1 Family File (T1FF) and the Amalgamated Mortality Database (AMDB).

Reference period of change - 2009

Target population - Starting with this release, a person is included in the database only if he or she obtained landed immigrant status since 1980 and filed at least one tax return since 1982.

Reference period of change - 1980 to 1999

Target population - Starting with this release, a person is included in the database only if he or she obtained their landed immigrant status since 1980 and filed at least one tax return since 1982 after becoming a landed immigrant.
