Reference period of change - March 31, 2025
As of the March 31, 2024 reference period, the Commercial Stocks of the Major Special Crops Survey (CSMS) was discontinued. Previously, administrative data from the Canadian Grain Commission were used to validate CSMS survey results which assist in determining stocks of special crops.
As of the March 31, 2025 occasion, the Annual Millers survey has been discontinued.
The Monthly Millers survey (MMIL) is now the Quarterly Millers survey (QMIL), and has transitioned from a monthly to a quarterly frequency. The sample from the old Annual Millers survey (AMIL) has been added to the Quarterly Millers survey.
The Commercial Stocks of Corn and Soybeans survey (CSCS) has transitioned from a triannual to a biannual frequency. The September-December and September-August iterations have been kept, while the September-March iteration (reference period) has been discontinued.
For the September-March period, components of industrial use and ending stocks previously derived from the survey will be estimated based on historical trends, administrative data, and other statistical products at Statistics Canada.
The Grain Used for Industrial Purposes survey has transitioned from a triannual to a biannual frequency. The August-December and August-July iterations have been kept, while the August-March iteration has been discontinued.
