Reference period of change - 2024/2025

The data collection cycle for the 2024/2025 fiscal year was redesigned following consultations with the survey's stakeholders - the 14 federal government science-based departments. Based on their feedback, a more streamlined survey was recommended. The updated version offers a clearer snapshot of IP activity across federal departments and agencies while also reducing respondent burden.

Reference period of change - 2015/2016

The Federal Patents, Licences and Royalties Survey (FPLR) was initiated in 2014. This is an ad hoc survey and its frequency will be determined by the client. This survey is related to the former Federal Intellectual Property Management Survey 2010-2011 which was discontinued in 2012.
