Number of close friends of person, category
Number of close friends refers to the total number of friends a person feels close to, that is, feels at ease with, can talk to about what's on his or her mind, or can call on for help. This number excludes relatives and acquaintances who are not close friends.
Person refers to an individual and is the unit of analysis for most social statistics programs.
