Trade group refers to a set of occupations that are considered to be trade occupations in Canada. The major trade groups were created from National Occupational Classification 2011 (NOC).

Person refers to an individual and is the unit of analysis for most social statistics programs.

The data for this variable are reported using the following classifications and/or lists:

• National Occupational Classification (NOC) 2016 Version 1.2
• National Occupational Classification, regrouping variant with major trade groups
• Red Seal trade
