Contact with health professional of person, proportion
Contact with health professional refers to whether or not a person saw or talked to a health professional about their physical, emotional or mental health in a given period of time. Contact includes both face-to-face and telephone contact with health professionals and excludes overnight stays in hospitals, nursing homes or convalescent homes. Health professionals include, for example, family doctors, nurses, psychologists, social workers and counsellors. They also include alternative health care providers, dental professionals or telehealth service providers.
Person refers to an individual and is the unit of analysis for most social statistics programs.
