Chlorophyll-a concentration refers to the measurement of the greenness of water. Chlorophyll-a is a proxy measurement for the amount of phytoplankton (microscopic plants at the base of the food chain) in the water. Units are mg/cubic meter.

Oceanic geographic area refers to areas whose boundaries are specifically delimited in accordance with well-defined concepts and which, in total, cover the entire ocean area within the outer boundary of exclusive economic zone of Canada.
