Intake water treatment refers to the type of treatment, if any, of new water prior to its initial use at the location. New water is water introduced for the first time into a given location regardless of source or quality, including sanitary/domestic water intake. Where the location supplies water to adjacent or tenant industries or municipalities, that water is excluded.
