Final treatment of water discharge of location, category

Final treatment of water discharge refers to the type of treatment, if any, of water before it is discharged by the location. It does not include water released to ponds, lagoons or basins and intended for recirculation or reuse until such water is actually discharged to where it is beyond the control of the location. It also does not include water lost in production through evaporation, permanently held in closed storage, or otherwise consumed (e.g., included in a final product).

Location refers to the lowest level of the Business Register statistical hierarchy. The location, as a statistical unit, is defined as a production unit at a single geographical location at which or from which economic activity is conducted and for which, at a minimum, employment data are available.
