Duration of unemployment of person, category

Duration of unemployment refers to the number of continuous weeks during which a person has been without work and is looking for work or is on temporary layoff. Respondents are required to look for work at least once every four weeks; they are not required to undertake job search activities each week in order to be counted as unemployed.

Person refers to an individual and is the unit of analysis for most social statistics programs.
