Normalized difference vegetation index of geographic area, index
Normalized difference vegetation index refers to a rating of vegetation health and density calculated using the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI), which ranges from -1 to 1. The NDVI is calculated from satellite images and is based on the observed levels of visible and near infrared light reflected by vegetation. Higher values represent higher densities of green leaves, that is, vegetation that is dense and in good health.
Geographic area refers to areas whose boundaries are specifically delimited in accordance with well-defined concepts and which, in total, cover the entire landmass of Canada. It excludes Canadian territorial enclaves abroad.
