Hierarchical structure

The structure of the NOC 2021 Version 1.0 STEM grouping variant is hierarchical. It is composed of two levels.

Level 1: grouping (one-character alphabetical variant codes)
Level 2: detail (two-character alphanumeric variant codes, with examples provided at the 5th-digit standard code - unit group)
