Classification of place of birth of parent

Usage

'Parent born in Canada' may be further sub-classified using the Standard Geographical Classification (SGC).

'Parent born outside Canada' may be further sub-classified using the Standard Classification of Countries and Areas of Interest (SCCAI). When using the SCCAI for this sub-classification, the category 'Canada' should not be used.

If data are available for more than one parent of the person, 'place of birth of parent' can be referred to as 'place of birth of parent 1' for one parent and 'place of birth of parent 2' for another parent.
