Classification of combinations of college, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma with a bachelor's degree or higher

Usage

According to international standards, educational programs at the postsecondary level are required to meet a minimum duration threshold in order to be considered as postsecondary attainment. If a person has completed a program of less than 3 months and has obtained no other college, CEGEP or other non-university certificates or diplomas of longer duration, they will be recorded as having no college, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma.

Program duration is based on the regular program length based on full-time attendance, and not the time it actually took the person to complete the program.

Note that this classification does not distinguish between bachelor's degrees completed at a college or other non-university institution and those completed at a university; both are classed as bachelor's degrees. College bachelor's degrees are not counted as college, CEGEP or other non-university certificates or diplomas.
