Usage

The economic territory of Canada, provinces and territories includes the economic territory under the effective control of the specific government. Canadian territorial enclaves abroad are territorial enclaves of the government of Canada. They may include provincial and territorial representation.

When presenting data on the economic territory the following note should be included:

Where data presented by economic territory does not include certain of the components that comprise economic territory, an accompanying note should clarify the exclusions. The following note is recommended for data on international merchandise trade statistics:

International merchandise trade statistics record goods that enter or leave the statistical territory, which is the territory with respect to which data is collected. For the international merchandise trade statistics of Canada, statistical territory is analogous to the customs boundary. Within the System of National Accounts, trade statistics on goods is adjusted to approximate data for economic territory.
