Definition
Couple family with children refers to a census family that contains a married couple or a couple living common law and at least one child. The term 'two-parent family' can also be used when referring to a couple family with children.

This is the current standard.

The previous standard made no reference to children being children by common-law unions. In this standard, common law unions have been added to the ways in which children can be associated to the couple family. In addition, a child having their own partner living in the dwelling has been added to the ways in which children are excluded from this statistical unit.
