Potential years of life lost of population
Definition
Potential years of life lost refers to the number of years of potential life not lived when a person dies "prematurely", defined for this indicator as before age 75. For a population, potential years of life lost is the total years lost calculated for all deaths in a specified period.
Population refers to the total membership, based on specific characteristics, of a group of people, objects or events at a given time and within a particular geographic area.
