List of Components of Investment in Fixed Capital Reconciliation Statement

1. - Total private and public investment in Canada

2. - Defence outlays and other items

'Defence outlays and other items' includes, in 'other items' deductions for: net sales of used motor vehicles, scrap and salvage, used ships exported, and United States government expenditure on the wartime Canadian American Norman Oil Line (CANOL) project. This component should be subtracted as it contributes negatively to the sum.

3. - Transfer costs on the sale and purchase of existing fixed assets

4. - Add, other adjustments

'Other adjustments' includes statistical revisions which have not been incorporated in "Private and Public Investment in Canada". The largest component is revisions to the estimates of alterations and improvements to residential construction.
