The study of literature in its international context and the comparison of literary phenomena taking into account the interrelation of humanistic and social science disciplines such as history, philosophy, psychology and sociology. Some specific topics include the analysis of the historical flow of literary archetypes and symbols, the role of folklore and myth and recurrent problems of literary theory and criticism.
