This group consists of the Canada Pension Plan, a social security fund administered by the federal government. The plan was set up following the passage of legislation by the Parliament of Canada that required the establishment of a funded program to provide a variety of retirement, disability and survivors' benefits. Contributions are made by employed Canadians and matched by employers' contributions on an income-based scale subject to a maximum contribution limit.
