Canadian Classification of Institutional Units and Sectors (CCIUS) 2012

S123 - Other financial intermediaries except insurance corporations and pension funds

This subsector consists of corporations and quasi-corporations primarily engaged in financial intermediation, except depository corporations, insurance corporations, and pension funds. It includes sales finance companies, consumer loan companies, mutual funds, and issuers of asset-backed securities. These financial corporations raise funds on financial markets, but not in the form of deposits, and use them to acquire other kinds of financial assets. The types of corporations which may be included under this heading are those engaged in financing investment or capital formation; for example, investment corporations, corporations engaged in financial leasing, rent-to-own (hire-purchase) corporations that provide financing for installment based purchases, and other corporations engaged in the provision of personal finance or consumer credit.
