Classification of core housing need

1 - In core housing need

This category includes private households whose housing falls below at least one of the adequacy, affordability or suitability housing indicator thresholds, and would have to spend 30% or more of their total before-tax income to pay the median rent of alternative local housing that is acceptable.

2 - Not in core housing need

This category includes private households that are not in core housing need. Private households are in core housing need when their housing falls below at least one of the adequacy, affordability or suitability housing indicator thresholds, and they would have to spend 30% or more of their total before-tax income to pay the median rent of alternative local housing that is acceptable.
