Classification of class of worker - variant on employees and self-employed

1 - Employee

This category includes persons who worked for others in the context of an employer-employee relationship. This includes persons who worked for wages, salaries, commissions, tips, piece-rates, or payments 'in kind' (payments in goods or services rather than money).

Exclusion:

'Employee' does not include working owners of incorporated businesses even though they may receive wages, salaries, commissions, tips, piece-rates, or payments 'in kind' (payments in goods or services rather than money).

11 - Permanent position

This category includes employees who are incumbents of positions with no specified employment end date.

12 - Fixed-term (1 year or more)

This category includes employees who are incumbents of positions with a specified employment contract end date of one year or more from their start date.

13 - Casual, seasonal or short-term position (less than 1 year)

This category includes employees who are incumbents of positions with an employment end date which is imprecise due to the work being either casual or seasonal, or those in positions with a specified contract length of less than one year from their start date.
