562001.8 - Remediation services

This product group includes a wide of services provided for the remediation of sites whose air, water, and or soil has been contaminated by hazardous materials and substances. Among the services included in this product group are assessment, planning, clean-up, containment, and monitoring of contaminated sites. Also included are remediation services for building contaminated by hazardous substances and emergency response services for fuel, petroleum, and mine spills.

562001.8.1 - Site remediation services

Management of a contaminated site, for prevention, minimization, or mitigation of damage to human health or the environment. Services pertain to remediation of the air, soil, ground and/or surface water (fresh or salt). Remediation options may include, but are not limited to, direct physical actions, such as treatment, removal, or destruction of contaminants, other on-site risk management solutions, such as capping or containment of contaminants or isolation of the site.

562001.8.1.2 - Control, containment, and monitoring services

Management of a contaminated site, in accordance with a remediation plan, involving (1) operation and maintenance of equipment and/or technologies on the site for the purpose of preventing additional, or wider, contamination on the site or the movement of contaminants from the site; (2) monitoring of the site to determine the nature and extent of contamination at the site, the effectiveness of any remedial activities, emissions from the site or remedial technologies and the impacts of the contaminants on the environment or human health; and (3) controlling unauthorized access to the site.

562001.8.1.2.1 - Control and containment services, air

Management of a contaminated site, in accordance with a remediation plan, including controlling unauthorized access to the site, involving operation and maintenance of equipment and/or technologies on the site for the purpose of preventing additional, or wider, contamination of air on the site or the movement of contaminants from the site.

562001.8.1.2.2 - Monitoring services, air

Monitoring of air on contaminated site, in accordance with a remediation plan, to determine the nature and extent of contamination at the site, the effectiveness of any remedial activities, emissions from the site or remedial technologies and the impacts of the contaminants on the environment or human health.

562001.8.1.2.3 - Control and containment services, water

Management of a contaminated site, including controlling unauthorized access to the site, in accordance with a remediation plan, involving operation and maintenance of equipment and/or technologies on the site for the purpose of preventing additional, or wider, contamination of water on the site or the movement of contaminants from the site.

562001.8.1.2.4 - Monitoring services, water

Monitoring of water on contaminated site, in accordance with a remediation plan, to determine the nature and extent of contamination at the site, the effectiveness of any remedial activities, emissions from the site or remedial technologies and the impacts of the contaminants on the environment or human health.

562001.8.1.2.5 - Control and containment services, soil

Management of a contaminated site, including controlling unauthorized access to the site, in accordance with a remediation plan, involving operation and maintenance of equipment and/or technologies on the site for the purpose of preventing additional, or wider, contamination of soil on the site or the movement of contaminants from the site.

562001.8.1.2.6 - Monitoring services, soil

Monitoring of soil on contaminated site, in accordance with a remediation plan, to determine the nature and extent of contamination at the site, the effectiveness of any remedial activities, emissions from the site or remedial technologies and the impacts of the contaminants on the environment or human health.

562001.8.1.2.7 - Control, containment, and monitoring services, n.e.c.

Management of a contaminated site, in accordance with a remediation plan, involving (1) operation and maintenance of equipment and/or technologies on the site for the purpose of preventing additional, or wider, contamination on the site or the movement of contaminants from the site; (2) monitoring of the site to determine the nature and extent of contamination at the site, the effectiveness of any remedial activities, emissions from the site or remedial technologies and the impacts of the contaminants on the environment or human health; and (3) controlling unauthorized access to the site; not elsewhere classified. Examples are control, containment, and monitoring services which include two or more media.
