561025.1 - Investigation and security services

Conducting investigations to provide information about people, events or documents for use in legal proceedings, pre-employment verification, domestic matters and other uses; and provision by the private sector of services to protect people and property.

561025.1.1 - Investigation services

Conducting investigations to provide information about people, events or documents for use in legal proceedings, pre-employment verification, domestic matters and other uses, about such things as insurance claims and missing persons. Techniques such as surveillance, background checks, computer searches and interviews may be used to gather the information. Includes fingerprinting and lie detector services.

561025.1.2 - Security guard and patrol services

Providing protection of people and property using guards and patrols. May include the use of dogs. Includes providing access control at a property's entrance, checking identification, screening employees and visitors. Patrol officers provide protection to an establishment by driving in clearly marked vehicles to prevent and detect criminal activity, or safety problems such as fire. Includes surveillance by video camera, for example at a casino. Includes passenger screening services.

Providing personal protection by deterring and preventing hazards to people's security, using specialized personnel (escorts and bodyguards). This service may include risk assessment analysis.

Providing armoured car transportation of cash and valuables, automatic teller machine services and other armoured car services. Includes cash management and handling services bundled with armoured car services. Includes mobile security escort services (i.e., providing an escort vehicle to accompany trucks and other vehicles).

561025.1.5 - Building security system monitoring services

Monitoring of building alarm and security systems to detect intrusions and other problems. The response to an activated alarm may be notification of official agencies and/or a physical response by the monitoring service. Security systems may monitor for conditions such as fire and flooding, or the status of industrial equipment. Installation, maintenance and repair of the equipment may be included. Includes remote monitoring services by video camera.

Installation and repair of building lock and security systems, without monitoring services. Includes unlocking services, re-keying and re-coding of locks, and maintenance of safes and vaults.

Provision of security systems and lock services, not elsewhere classified. Includes key duplication services. Includes vehicle tracking and monitoring services, such as OnStar™ and LoJack™.
