8 - Natural resources, agriculture and related production occupations

This broad category comprises middle management occupations in natural resources, agriculture and related production, as well as occupations concerned with supervision and equipment operation in the natural resource-based sectors of mining, oil and gas production, forestry and logging, agriculture, horticulture and fishing. Harvesting, landscaping and natural resources labourers are also included. Most occupations in this category are industry specific and do not occur outside of the primary resources industries.

82 - Supervisors in natural resources, agriculture and related production

This major group comprises supervisors in natural resources, agriculture and related production. These occupations come with Training, Education, Experience and Responsibility (TEER) identified as TEER 2. Occupations classified in TEER 2, as those included in this group with a 2 as the second digit of their code, typically require completion of a post-secondary education program of two to three years at community college, institute of technology or CÉGEP; or completion of an apprenticeship training program of two to five years; or supervisory or significant safety responsibilities; or the accumulation of several years of experience in a related occupation found in TEER 3, when applicable (TEER 3 includes occupations with a 3 as a second digit in their code).

This sub-major group comprises supervisors in natural resources, agriculture and related production, including supervisors, logging and forestry; contractors and supervisors, mining, oil and gas; and contractors and supervisors, agriculture, horticulture and related operations and services.

8201 - Supervisors, logging and forestry

This minor group comprises supervisors, logging and forestry. They are employed by logging companies, contractors and government agencies.

8202 - Contractors and supervisors, mining, oil and gas

This minor group comprises contractors and supervisors, mining, oil and gas, including supervisors, mining and quarrying, and contractors and supervisors, oil and gas drilling and services. They are employed by coal, metal and non-metallic mineral mines and quarries; drilling and well service contracting companies; and petroleum producing companies; or they may be self-employed.

8203 - Contractors and supervisors, agriculture, horticulture and related operations and services

This minor group comprises contractors and supervisors, agriculture, horticulture and related operations and services, including agricultural service contractors and farm supervisors, and contractors and supervisors, landscaping, grounds maintenance and horticulture services. They are employed on livestock and other farms; by landscaping companies, cemeteries, lawn care and tree service companies, nurseries and greenhouses; and landscaping operations of public works departments and private establishments; or they may be self-employed.
