The purpose of this survey is to provide detailed information on the energy demand and consumption patterns of Canadian businesses, organizations and institutions.

Hello, my name is .......... from Statistics Canada. I am calling about the Survey of Commercial and Institutional Energy Use.

We are calling today to determine if you are in scope for the Survey of Commercial and Institutional Energy Use, 2014. This survey collects data on the types and quantities of energy (such as electricity, natural gas etc.) consumed by businesses and institutions in Canada. The results of this survey will be used to assess how well Canada is fulfilling its commitment to increase energy efficiency and to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Participation in this survey is mandatory and your assistance is essential to ensure the accuracy of the information collected. This survey is conducted under the authority of the Statistics Act. Statistics Canada is prohibited by law from releasing any information it collects which could identify any person, business, or organization, unless consent has been given by the respondent or as permitted by the Statistics Act. Statistics Canada will use the information from this survey for statistical purposes.
