Data release - January 10, 2023

Description

The Office of the Commissioner for Federal Judicial Affairs Canada (FJA) data will be used to support an indicator from the Gender Results Framework (GRF). Introduced in Budget 2018, the GRF represents the Government of Canada's vision for gender equality. The GRF contains 43 indicators designed to track how Canada is currently performing; define what is needed to achieve greater equality and determine how progress will be measured going forward. Specifically, FJA data will provide the gender distribution of federally appointed judges in federal, provincial and territorial courts. These statistics can also be used to track changes over time.

The data can be used to support evidence-based policy development and decision making at all levels of government as well as broader applications of GBA Plus by academics, researchers, and other analysts.
