Description

This program includes the following components:

1. Transport Canada: Annual report data

Transport Canada publishes every year an report entitled "Transportation in Canada", accompanied by an Addendum.

Some of the tables in this Addendum contain federal, provincial/territorial and municipal government expense and revenue data.

This data is now available in the form of six tables, published on Statistics Canada's website. These tables will be updated on an annual basis.

2. Transport Canada: Transportation activity and performance indicators

Transport Canada's activity and performance indicators draw from a variety of data sources to provide information on Canada's transportation system. These indicators are currently released on the Transportation Data and Information Hub, available on the Statistics Canada website.

As of February 2020, these data are also available in the form of three monthly tables, starting from January 2017.

3. Transport Canada: Multimodal Safety and Security Programs Oversight Delivery Indicators, by federal government fiscal year quarter

As part of the Transport Canada Multimodal Safety and Security Programs Oversight Delivery Indicators and Staffing Levels, a first table contains the number of completed inspections, by programs, by activities and by administrative regions, starting with the April to June 2017 quarter of the 2017-2018 federal government fiscal year. A second table contains the number of Oversight personnel by programs, which includes indeterminate and term positions lasting longer than 3 months. Inspectors are found in numerous occupational categories such as Air Traffic Control (AI), Air Operations (AO), Engineering and Scientific Support (EG), Engineering (EN), General Technical (GT), Physical Sciences (PC), Program Administration (PM) and Technical Inspections (TI). A third table contains the number of enforcement actions, by program, starting with the April to June 2019 quarter of the 2019-2020 fiscal year. A fourth table contains the number of immediate risk reduction measures by programs, starting with the April to June 2019 quarter of the 2019-2020 fiscal year.

4. Transport Canada: Urban Mobility - Performance Indicators

Transport Canada calculates a key mobility indicator called the travel time index, or TTI, for a series of urban trade corridors across Canada. The travel time index measures urban congestion during peak hours.

This data is now available in the form of maps, bar charts and tables, published on Statistics Canada's website for five urban areas: Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, Montreal and Halifax. The data will be updated on a quarterly basis.

Reference period: Month, quarter or year, depending on the data.

Collection period: During the month/quarter/year following the reference month/quarter/year, depending on the data.
