Data from the House of Commons will be used to create two indicators for the Gender Results Framework. The purpose is to present the gender distribution of members of national Parliament and of persons occupying a federal ministerial position.

Data release - November 8, 2021

Description

The House of Commons data will be used to support two indicators from the Gender Results Framework (GRF). Introduced in Budget 2018, the (GRF) represents the Government of Canada's vision for gender equality. The GRF contains 43 indicators designed to track how Canada is currently performing; define what is needed to achieve greater equality and determine how progress will be measured going forward. Specifically, House of Commons data will provide the gender distribution of persons elected to national Parliament and of persons appointed to federal Cabinet. These statistics can also be used to track changes over time.

The data can be used to support evidence-based policy development and decision making at all levels of government as well as broader applications of GBA+ by academics, researchers, and other analysts.
