Reference year 2008 is the final release from the Small For-hire Carriers and Owner Operators Survey since the survey has been discontinued. However, the population covered by the survey has been integrated into two new surveys: the Quarterly Trucking Survey (QTS, record number 2748) and the Annual Trucking Survey (ATS, record number 2742).

Data sources - The 2008 estimates were derived from the 2007 survey results and administrative data for 2008.
