Reference period of change - May 2012

As of the May 2012 reference month, the CSPI is published on the base of 2011=100. The new series appear in new CANSIM tables with new vectors. The old index, based on 2007=100, is terminated with the data for the April 2012 reference month.

Reference period of change - January 2011

With the release of the Commercial Software Price Index on February 25, 2011, the index series was converted to 2007=100 as its time reference year. The indexes were also updated using a 2009 weighting pattern.

Reference period of change - January 2006

Estimation - The weights and categories used to calculate the CSPI have been updated to reflect changes in end-user expenditure categories and patterns. Expenditure categories and patterns for 2004 replaced those in 2000. In addition, the data source for the weights and categories has changed.

Reference period of change - January 2000 to December 2003

With the March 11, 2004 release, monthly data from January 2000 to December 2003 were available to the public for the first time.
