Annual Passenger Bus and Urban Transit Survey (PBUT)
Summary of changes
Activity on this program started: 1995
Reference period of change - 2014
Starting in May 2015, Statistics Canada rolled out a re-designed survey related to public bus and urban transit in Canada. All companies engaged in public bus and urban transit in Canada are included in this redesigned survey.
The changes starting for 2014 include:
- Increasing the coverage of the estimates from 95% to 100%;
- Combining urban transit services with commuter services and para-transit;
- Combining school bus services with school bus charter services;
- Combining shuttle services with other passenger bus services;
- Eliminating the publication of CANSIM Table 408-0011 - Canadian passenger bus and urban transit industries, maintenance cost, by type of vehicle
Reference period of change - 2004
Collection instrument - Questionnaire was redesigned and simplified; the number of pages was cut in half.
Reference period of change - 2001
Prior to the reference year 2001, it was conducted under the title of Passenger Bus/Urban Transit Annual Survey.
Instrument design - A new questionnaire was used for the first time in 2002 to collect 2001 annual data. It replaces the 3 previous annual questionnaires (Form C, D and E) which were annual supplements to the 3 quarterly questionnaires (Forms A, B and F) of the quarterly Passenger Bus/Urban Transit Survey (see record number 2797) which was discontinued after it was conducted for the fourth quarter of 2000 for the last time.
