Reference period of change - 2017

Beginning with reference year 2019, the Trucking Commodity Origin and Destination (TCOD) Survey is being replaced by a redesigned version, the Freight Trucking Statistics (FTS). While the main purpose of the program stays unchanged, the objectives of this redesign is to take advantage of new technology and optimize the collection of shipments by trucks. This will significantly reduce reporting time, collection cost and respondent burden, while improving the survey coverage and the overall data quality. The collection period for the reference year 2019 is from June 2019 to March 2020.

Reference period of change - 2007

Target population - As of reference year 2007, the industry classification is based on the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) 2007.

Reference period of change - 2004

Beginning with reference year 2004, this survey has been re-designed. It has become an annual survey entitled the Trucking Commodity Origin and Destination Survey.

Target population - In the redesigned survey, all shipments made by the companies on the survey frame are in-scope. Shipments of less than 25 kilometres are not excluded as was the case with the previous survey.
