Probation rate of population, ratio

Probation rate refers to the number of persons being supervised on probation per 100,000 adults or per 10,000 youth in Canada. Probation is a type of community-based sanction, where the offender is placed under the supervision of a probation officer or other designated person.

Population refers to the total membership, based on specific characteristics, of a group of people, objects or events at a given time and within a particular geographic area.
