Youth supervision program refers to programs, managed by the provincial/territorial correctional system, to supervise young persons (aged 12 to 17 years) in custody or in the community. Custodial supervision includes sentenced custody, pre-trial detention and other temporary detention for persons who are legally required to be at a facility. Community supervision includes probation, deferred custody and community supervision and community portion of custody sentences.

Person refers to an individual and is the unit of analysis for most social statistics programs.
