Mental health services, professional consultation/service use of person, status

Mental health services, professional consultation/service use refers to whether or not, in some specified period, the person consulted a professional or utilized a professional service for problems with emotions, mental health, or use of alcohol or drugs. Professionals included are psychiatrists, family doctors and general practitioners, psychologists, nurses, social workers, counsellors, and psychotherapists. Professional services include hospitalization and online therapy.

Person refers to an individual and is the unit of analysis for most social statistics programs.
