Most serious sentence of case, category

Most serious sentence refers to the most serious sentence in the case as it is possible to receive more than one sentence type in relation to a guilty charge in a case. Sentence types are ranked from most to least serious as follows: Custody; conditional sentence; probation; fine; and other.

Case refers to one or more charges against an accused person or company, which were processed by the courts at the same time (date of offence, date of initiation, date of first appearance, date of decision/sentencing), and received a final decision.
